HR 5211, is a bill to give Media Companies a free pass to disrupt your personal computer in search of media files like MP3's and digital video files .

I say pass it as soon as possible! As a Copyright owner, with an internet connection and the ability to read log files, I will be happy to scour the internet looking for copies of my material that has been accessed by these companies. Such a decision is not taken lightly but the continuing brown ring syndrome on the part of the entertainment industry mandates a response. A proportional measured response.

Up till now things you can do to a computer have been an intellectual exercise. Having a home network has the advantages of trying out interesting bits of code that can really ruin one's day, without causing damage. This prepares me for being confident that my clients systems will keep running.
