what's hot what's not

Electronic Politics

Doc Searls who I respect enormously is one of the folks involved in the AOTC and GeekPac. The AOTC will educate folks about Open Technologies and I am down for it.

The creation of these groups are a direct result of such shortsighted and industry financed legislation such as the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extention Act, the Digital Millenium Copyright Act and the worst piece of special interest legislation; The Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Act.

The goal of any PAC is to directly influence legislation and legislators with money.GeekPac is a Political Action Committee just like the PAC's formed by the 'entertainment' industry and other special interest groups. This is much more problematic for me.
