what's hot what's not

Big Media and the Internet

It started innocently enough. Morning coffee, open the browser, quick click to Doc Searls, a click to the Rageboy piece and the Quote of the Month.

I know it is only the 9th, but trust me, unless Jack Valenti, Mike Eisner, Hillary Rosen or one of the congressional sock puppets steps on their thing again by opening their mouths, (ya it's a pretty ugly image) this will stand the test of time.

In fact, CONTENT as a corporate label means: "Whatever it is that you put in the void next to the ads in order that your customer, the advertiser, will give you money."

Eric Brooks Golden Rules

Eric is one of those folks that you like or hate. He spits out his life on his site like a razor blade in your eyeball. His work is unashamed, uncensored and raw. He has Rules. His first Rule:

There are more...

Pages having the words 'LemurZone' and 'News'

See! I am a news god. I can factually report that I am the cat's pajamas for news on the web. But then so can you.

The problem with numbers is the method of counting and reporting. (See Enron and the Florida Presidential Election Recount for tips on counting)

One would like to assume that a 'Best Seller' is just that. You know, the number of things that folks paid money for. Not produced, not shipped, but paid for and delivered into hot sweaty hands with the anticipation of receiving value for money spent.

Best seller 'lists' are a real good example of GIGO (garbage in garbage out). From vanity purchases to exclusion by genre, most lists are loosely based on reality. A New technology based on the sale is poised to bring a little more reality to reporting a 'Best Seller'.
