Projects for others have been sucking my time like a vampire on speed.
Here is some light remodeling porn from my current client project.
The Setup: Build an Office/Counter/Customer/Area in a building bearing the scars of previous remodeling projects. Recycle and reuse as much as possible.
The space from the front
The space from the rear.
The Post has gotta go!
Slash open the ceiling, inspect the framing.
Build a box beam to be covered with plywood to carry the weight across the ceiling.
Score some recycled cabinets, figure size of counter, build front wall.
Talk with clients, figure workflow with recycled cabinets, build side wall.
Set rear cabinets, figure rear wall and doors.
In my continuing quest to break the Hinged Door Mafia, Pocket Doors get framed in. Electrician begins rough-in. Start Drywall on exterior.
Pocket Door framing Details. The cabinets are Commercial Units. Normally these cabinets would run you between 2-500 bucks a lineal foot, Counters are extra.
Yes there are 2.
Steel Stud Soffits
Drywall over soffits. The triangular wings sticking out the front are the brackets for the counter, which is two layers of 3/4″ plywood covered with 16 gauge stainless steel. The counter is 10 feet long and 38″ deep. Heavier than hell. But wait! There is more!
The back of the counter has overhead storage for the counterman as well as wall units on the side.
Counter is in and drywall is almost ready for taping.
Another view of the counter.
Was it good for you too?
